Pretty much the same, for now. Gas prices were too damn high at 2.50-3.00 a gallon to do any real rolling out of state in a gas guzzling 4x4. Plus the pickup is older than hell anyway. I hadn't bought a vehicle in decades, it was time to upgrade to a car. Driving is tolerable now VS jarring and bouncing in a pickup on roads.

Now when the roads are impassible due to no maintenance, well that's a different kettle of fish

It is surprising we've got higher average gas prices in Louisiana than Colorado.

The only reasons gas stations run out of fuel is if they arent refining enough to keep up with demand, which im not hearing, or if they dont want to pay higher prices from suppliers they cant pass onto consumers.

You forgot about gasoline tanker truck drivers, of which there has been a shortage for a year now, and it's only getting worse.

If i remember correctly they were fast tracking minorities and immigrants to get CDLs and haz certs because of the shortages.

That would be me and I still hold by that comment as diesel is the most likely fuel to be rationed to commercial vehicles only when the shortages become more acute as the assholes who ran out and bought 10 liter turbo dually pickup trucks to commute in won't be considered essential. This is just the first salvo in the fuel war and I would be interested how easily the gas station will be able to replace that diesel once the tank runs dry.

Considering the shortages are artificial i think your take is wrong. They can throttle production as they please. With diesel you will be able to get it in rural communities and at least if we go full mad max you can make diesel.

Edit: other point diesel can be stored for much longer than gasoline before going bad.

I was Laying On the Dirt Floor of my Squat Hut Laughing Out Loud to this.

To think, when i am eventually on medical in hospice care with inflammed arthritis, confused from progressive supernuclear palsy, dementia, that there is going to be this passing, strange, foreign memory of these years were "the good ol' days" even "best days of my life"

Haha, and then snap back into the current future moment not knowing who i am or where, or date, who all these strangers are.

TBH. I sometimes think if i should expire myself before it escalates to this, but i have several years of good ol' days ahead yet.
