Germans in 1939 enjoyed a higher standard of living than Russians in 1989, but I don't think Hitler was planning to share that prosperity with his white Slavic brethren.

Even if the army attacking DC was planning total extermination, I'd wish them well. DC is completely in thrall to liberalism, a perverse religion that sterilizes all peoples it infects. Brezhnev was never as bad as Biden and Russians who remember that era look back on it as a kind of golden age. Sure in his later years Brezhnev wasn’t exactly charismatic or sharp but the jews had to wait for him to die before they started dismantling the USSR and ruining the country. The lines for basic consumer goods started after Brezhnev was already dead. Crime and alcoholism took off after Brezhnev died. This is all because even in his later years the “reformers” aka the pro Western Jewish click couldn’t manipulate and outmaneuver Brezhnev like they did Gorbachev who is basically considered a traitor in Russia today. 90% of the horror stories of the late USSR took place during perestroika when Brezhnev was dead.

This isn’t to say the USSR didn’t have fatal flaws inherent in its structure and I’m not trying to White Knight for that country. However those fatal flaws go right back to Lenin and the USSRs founding, I don’t want to derail the thread totally but essentially absent very, very strong leaders the USSR was bound to fall apart because Lenin structured it as a house of cards from the get go. Stalin and to a lesser extent Brezhnev were the strong leaders that the kept the country going and Khrushchev and Gorbachev were the weak leaders that let it fall apart.

The basic time line would be under Lenin things are going badly, Stalin rights the ship for awhile, Khrushchev let’s things start falling apart again and is thus ousted in a coup, Brezhnev rights the ship awhile longer, Gorbachev let’s it all fall apart beyond recovery. Putin’s 1st of 2 speeches before started the invasion of Ukraine outlines why the USSR was doomed very well and he lays out how Lenin screwed it up from the start and how the leadership that came after were guilty of relying on strong leaders as opposed to correcting Lenin’s mistakes.

A republic needs a virtuous elite to function, but has no means of creating a virtuous elite. Only a wise and righteous king can do that, mostly by honoring good men and beheading bad men.
