A thousand-year lie that would live on for eternity...

NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139... is an updated version of NieR Replicant, previously only released in Japan.

Discover the one-of-a-kind prequel to the critically-acclaimed masterpiece NieR:Automata. Now with a modern upgrade, experience masterfully revived visuals, a fascinating storyline and more!

The protagonist is a kind young man living in a remote village. In order to save his sister Yonah, who fell terminally ill to the Black Scrawl, he sets out with Grimoire Weiss, a strange talking tome, to search for the "Sealed verses."

Experience the NieR Replicant story for the first time in the west through the eyes of the protagonist as a brother.

The original all-star team returns including acclaimed director, YOKO TARO (Drakengard / NieR:Automata), composer Keiichi Okabe (TEKKEN / Drakengard / NieR:Automata), and producer Yosuke Saito (DRAGON QUEST X / NieR:Automata).
Square Enix is re-making the original Nier on PC. Unsurprisingly it seems like it will be running Denuvo same as Nier Automata. This will be the version that the west never saw. The protagonist will be Yohna's brother instead of her father.

Since Square-Enix came out in support of BLM with a cash donation, I suggest that if you're going to be buying this to go through a third party key seller. This is a legal way of getting the game without giving money to Square-Enix (as well as being cheaper). As an aside, I wonder when Japanese studios will realize their western branches are doing things like this, damaging their reputation. I know Nintendo recently transferred the localization rights from Nintendo of America to their UK branch after NoA had been caught censoring some games and delivering inaccurate localization (as well as adding leftist politics in some games).

I quite enjoyed the original. If they can clean up the game play a little bit, I think this game will be one to remember.

I have just realized we already have a thread for this, maybe an admin could delete this unnecessary thread.

How friendly is this games lore/story to /ourguys/? This game series seems to require a huge time commitment to reading the wiki to get the most out of it, especially since it is so esoteric in nature and presentation. This Neir series seems to have an apocalyptic situation at the end of every game so perhaps it is based? I just want to make sure that if I give this game a try some day, I can fully enjoy it.

I mean, I enjoy the metal gear solid series for the refined stealth gameplay and the conspiracy angle around it for example but even I am bothered by it's left leaning slant when you get into the finer details of it's main characters motivations. I am just wondering if this game series has anything like that.

Lol, I expect nothing less from globohomo. I goycotted Square-Enix long ago before they started funding left wing terrorism because they massacered my boy Deus Ex, the game that most likely set me on the conspiracy path when I was younger in my late high school days (I don't remember what made me initially conscious about the "illuminati" but I can definitely say that Deus Ex most likely played a part).

I can't get into the story without spoiling it, but the setting for this game is that you play during the collapse of a post-collapse society due to a mysterious magical disease and a chronic increase in these demonic entities called shades that attack people. I could probably draw some comparisons to what's going on with the coronahoax and the vaccine as the proposed (and forced) solution with the plot elements in this game but I won't because it would be spoilers and also a stretch.

It's not really "based" if you're looking for a story that aligns with your politics. There's nothing overtly political about this game. It's just a story with its own characters and their struggles, it doesn't seek to make some sort of political statement. It has a traditional, young man hero story played straight - I guess some would maybe consider that right-wing. The main character isn't a wimp, gets shit done with determination with the goal of saving his sister. He has that pretty boy look that the japs are fond of (in the original version, you play as the girl's big burly father instead of her pretty-boy brother because the japs thought the west would appreciate more of a grizzled manly father character than a brother - one of the rare times that I personally prefer a localization change) Fair warning though, there are 2 pozzed things going on with it:
one of the main characters is gay (it's really, really not a focus of the character. If you blink you could miss it, it's just a one-off line that implies it, it goes like your character says something along these lines: "one day, you'll have a nice wedding with a nice wife too" and he responds something like "that's not quite right..." it's never mentioned again)
one of the other main characters is a girl with a mutation that makes her have a dick. Her backstory is the most shit-lib part of the story, where almost her entire village bullies her relentlessly and throw stones at her her entire childhood because of her dick (I don't even know how they would know). This part is stupid and needless to say, I would have preferred if she was just a girl, but while she's an important character her backstory is not much of a focus. In fact, I think when she talks about it she never officially says in the game "I have a penis", she says something like "I'm different", so unless I told you (or you looked up her skirt) you might have never known what she's talking about when she says she's different. She's not a bad character despite that though, in my opinion.

If people in our spheres were able to play red dead redemption 2 with the aggressive anti-white stuff constantly in your face, the minor poz shit in this game shouldn't be a big deal.

Regarding your concerns about having to read wikis, I didn't read any and I understood what was going on.

You play this game for:
- An interesting story about a brother doing everything he can to save his sister in a desperate situation
- The boss fights, except a few they were all very good, in my opinion
- Surprising and unexpected moments
- A solid cast of characters that bounce off each-other very well
- A soundtrack that is very good and will probably stay with you

You don't play this game for:
- The gameplay. It's a lot better in the remake than the original, but it's nothing special. In the remake it's only serviceable, in the original it makes you not want to play the game. Automata has better gameplay
- The side content. A bit of it is interesting, but most of it is boring and horrible
- This is either a positive or negative depending on your taste, but the game should be played more than once as repeat play-troughs add more context to what's going on, and gives you different endings. If you are going to pick up this game, get ending A, put it down and never play it again, you probably should not bother. This same phenomenon is also present in Nier Automata

I clocked in around 40 hours on this game and got all the endings. I enjoyed it. Nioh 2 was my favorite single player game that came out this year, but this one is a close second but for different reasons (Nioh2 gameplay was great but story mediocre, this the gameplay is only OK but the story is very good).

I don't know, if you end up playing it you may think "this is leftist garbage", but I didn't think it was. If that does happen, do come here and call me an idiot for it. I certainly think it's nowhere near as close as anything that came out from the west in the past 10 years in terms of it being woke garbage.

Apparently it's been cracked last month (I've been out of the scene for a while), if you can get your hands on it for free somehow, you could give it a try. If you have to pay, consider what I wrote above and see if that's something that sounds interesting to you.

Wow mah dude, I didn't expect you to make such an effort post concerning my throw away question. I appreciate it none the less, your a true gamer who appriciates the artform.

If you blink you could miss it, it's just a one-off line that implies it, it goes like your character says something along these lines: "one day, you'll have a nice wedding with a nice wife too" and he responds something like "that's not quite right..." it's never mentioned again)
Meh, they are not forcing it directly in your face like the shitlibs do with their "marvel at our first transgender health minister in Biden's government!" kind of way so in terms of subversiveness it is hardly a blip on the radar.

one of the other main characters is a girl with a mutation that makes her have a dick.
Lol wat? What is with the japs and their "futanari"?

If people in our spheres were able to play red dead redemption 2 with the aggressive anti-white stuff constantly in your face, the minor poz shit in this game shouldn't be a big deal.
I personally goycotted RDR2 for the pozzed crap and the fact that it takes up such a huge data size on whatever platform you pay it on. So yes I'm a lot more "disciplined" than some others here and elsewhere obviously. It would make me feel too uneasy and shameful giving my money and thus supporting something so against our morals.

Nioh 2 was my favorite single player game that came out this year, but this one is a close second but for different reasons (Nioh2 gameplay was great but story mediocre, this the gameplay is only OK but the story is very good)
I don't play a lot of "current" vidya but I did make an exception for Ghost of Tsushima based on what I have heard from the word of mouth and youtube reviewer grapevine. This game has some really BASED themes but I mean what can you expect from a game that takes place in 12th century Japan? I give it a definite recommend if you haven't looked into playing it already. It's 'stealth' gameplay doesn't hold a candle to the MGS series but it is definitely an action game first and stealth game second as opposed to vice versa with MGS.

I don't know, if you end up playing it you may think "this is leftist garbage", but I didn't think it was. If that does happen, do come here and call me an idiot for it. I certainly think it's nowhere near as close as anything that came out from the west in the past 10 years in terms of it being woke garbage.
Sounds pretty tame compared to something like "The last of us part 2" so I'll take your word for it that you give it a pass.

I don't know. It's just weird, and it doesn't really add anything to the story. The "muh poor oppressed and bullied girl" backstory could have been done through any other means. I think the guy behind the game is just kind of a freak.

She has a dick because of a mistake in the SPOILER process, so I guess you can extrapolate that and say that the author says that trannies are mistakes. That's a joke, I don't think the he actually believes that necessarily.

Writing about this takes me back to when we spotted Yoko Taro (the main guy behind these nier games) posting on 8chan /v/. It might be silly but I'll probably always have a positive opinion of him because of that (unless he does something beyond the pale). This is the only thing I could find about it, so you'll just have to take my word for it. https://archive.md/bzbzx

Oh yeah I guess if you want to give it some BASED points there isn't a single black character in the game. If there's one, it's some random inconsequential NPC that I've completely forgotten. This game is just good escapism, the kind of game that's rarely made these days where you play it and can forget about the state of the world a bit because there's no politics injected into it. I played it around the time when they stated the vaccine craze in my country and it was good at making me calm down and de-stress.

Sounds pretty tame compared to something like "The last of us part 2" so I'll take your word for it that you give it a pass.
Yeah, it's really not even comparable to something vile like the last of us 2 that makes a point of wanting to make decent, Christian morality aligned people want to throw up. Last of us 2 is just jewish filth that's there with the goal of being offensive to normal people. If there's ever a version of nazi-style book burning but for video games, that one should be in there. This game has a bitch with a dick (who hates the fact she's not normal and lashes out at the world for it, may I add. Actually surprised I didn't hear of any tranny outrage about this) but it's never framed as a SO BRAVE thing. It's a part of her character certainly but I never was offended(I hate the connotations for this word nowadays, because it does have a rightful meaning in some situations, I felt offended and a bit sick, kind of like a part of my soul was tarnished after I saw some of the scenes from last of us 2, for example) because of it. It doesn't have the "this is beautiful you BIGOT" air about it that much of jewish media has is what I'm trying to say.

Nioh 2 was my favorite single player game that came out this year,
"But it came out last y- ...Oh right, PC."

I bought it on PS4 last year, and again on PC this year.

Quite an improvement over the original (which was already good), and the best "Souls-like" not made by FROM Software.

it's probably my favorite souls type game only because the gameplay is much more in depth than what a souls game usually is where you're just hitting light attack over and over, I like that you have combos and that mechanic that refills your stamina, there's no downtime in combat in that game once you master it, very fun

I don't want to derail the Nier Replicant topic, so I'm not likely to say too much more about Nioh & Dark Souls here.

However, I will say that I completely agree with your assessment of Nioh 2's combat -- it's the best "Souls-like" combat out there.

Fast-paced and combo-oriented combat with rewards for precise timing; plenty of options, depth, and character builds available.

The control scheme is excellent, and the difficulty curve is quite smooth throughout.

Yet, it lacks the mysterious, dark, and suspenseful atmosphere of a Souls title - an aspect I value greatly.

Nioh 2 has a decent and functional soundtrack, but it can't touch a Souls soundtrack in my opinion (although music is used sparingly in both series).

Nioh 2's endgame inventory management can be a pain in the ass, as well.

Sekiro was a nice "middle ground" between Souls and Nioh, but I put less hours into Sekiro than I had put into any of the Nioh or Souls (or Bloodborne) games.

I believe Elden Ring will feature another step or two towards the greatness of Nioh's combat, and I am very much looking forward to it.

We're on the same page, for raw gameplay Nioh 2 takes it, but for ambiance, story, item placement, world design, memorable moments, and sountrack the original Dark Souls takes it. I could probably draw you a map from memory of the first half of Dark Souls 1 and it would be pretty accurate I think. Not because I've played the game a ton, but rather because the game is just so memorable. Nioh 2 is a masterwork in terms of gameplay though, and since for me the point of a game is the gameplay primarily, it's my favorite Souls game.
