I kinda want to try this game Backbone. I'm pretty much over nostalgia games, but this one seems to include new elements beyond the classic point and click.

I didn't watch this review because it looked like it had spoilers.

I watched a part of a let's play on Steam that had some Russian woman who is the games co-creator. I got the feeling that the man actually made the game, and she was just attached to him and taking credit for stuff he did.

Anyway, it's $20, which is pretty steep if it's only 4-5 hours long.

However, I put it on my wishlist and will pay $12 for it, assuming it is not a furry game.

Is anything with anthropomorphic animals "furry"? Again, this game is made by an annoying Russian woman and a beta male Russian nerd, and they didn't seem to be talking about any obsession with the animals, and seemed to choose animals for aesthetic reasons.

I like noir and haven't really played a good point and click adventure game in a while. But I don't want to get involved with furries on any level.

So is this a furry game?

Yes, but they didn't know it at the time.
BTW, I read your proposal to write French news for the site.
I'm OK for 2 articles per week (I have a cuckwage job, a fambly, and, following your advice, am right in the middle of moving from Paris to a small town in the sticks).
Where can I hit you up ? Is the old pokemon yandex adress still valid ?

It has anthropomorphic animals, so furries will naturally think it is a furry game, whether it is or not. I think the only way to determine this is if it has weird sexual shit in it. Or if you find out one of the creators is a furry. They do have furries in Russia.

For better or worse, I think I have a worthwhile perspective on this subject. I am surrounded by furries in my every-day activity and actually am good friends with some. I have even been to conventions before. Hopefully these admissions do not get me banned. I have to admit I am fascinated by these people.

In any case, in my opinion, and in my experience, "furry" is a pretty subjective label. On one end some can and will say any anthropomorphization of animals constitutes "furry" content: if this is the case than the tradition goes back a millennia to the days of animism and shape-shifter superstition. In that sense the game is very much "furry" - so are a lot of books, movies, etc. Some people actually see it this way.

However, I judge something as "furry" generally based on intent to gather the interest of the "furry fandom", which is the broad culture that surrounds anthropomorphic animals in general. This fandom is one that is full to the brim of the mentally deranged and sexually deviant, and the "furry" identity is a way for them to express those derangements and deviancies semi-anonymously through the medium of a anthropomorphic furry character, distinct from themselves. There exist specifically "furry" games on Steam, which are largely sex-related, because this is the overwhelming focus of that community.

In judging content, the intent to catch the interest of the fandom can best be read from things like art style (furries are drawn to very emotive and obviously sexual character design, and also to bright colors) and (typically) a focus on sex and sexual identity within the content, be it a game or VN/animation, etc. In my opinion this game, from what little I have admittedly seen of it, does not seem to be made with this intent. The art style is not exaggerated and the color schemes are realistic, and this appears to be an intensely narrative-driven game that a low-attention-span furry coomer would likely be incapable of finishing.

I think I wrote up a big post way back on the BBS about the growth of furry content and the furry fandom. In my opinion it is inevitable as it attracts all manner of damaged and disassociated young people (an increasing population group) and provides them an escape from the demands and constraints of an increasingly neurotic, hypersocialized and racialized world - all furries generally have some sort of repressed identity, usually sexual orientation or "gender", but in my opinion any number of other subconscious identities as well, and they live as this "different" furry character (either through suit, or just art or even a name) instead of themselves to experience a sort of freedom in anonymity and a 'welcoming' community. Things like Robin Hood or Lion King or Balto or etc did not create furries by themselves, they just gave damaged people something familiar from their childhood to base their identity around. If you somehow banned all animal anthropomorphization tomorrow, the next generation of "furries" would just be something else weird and non-human, like the characters from the homestuck webcomic of the 2010s, which attracted a fanbase of mostly disassociated teenage white girls.

It has anthropomorphic animals, so furries will naturally think it is a furry game, whether it is or not. I think the only way to determine this is if it has weird sexual shit in it. Or if you find out one of the creators is a furry. They do have furries in Russia.
This video almost certainly does not involve actual furries, since they are all wearing mascot outfits (and not fursuits... that is a whole other topic, but a fursuit is custom-made to reflect the "fursona" character of the furry, while mascot outfits and the like are obviously made to resemble an existing and typically popular pop-culture character, or else something generic enough to be recognizeable) but there is actually a very large furry community in Russia - it is a worldwide but in my experience almost entirely white phenomenon, perhaps because any sort of white human identity is strictly taboo, but just as likely also due to the massive promotion of strange sexual orientations and transgenderism in our population, and the absence of any other sense of belonging or speciality.

If the game is just animal characters with no wierd sex garbage then no, it's not a furry game. If it does have weird sex garbage in it then yes, it is a furry game.

The Bible has humans with animal heads in it. They appear in the book of Ezekiel, and I if remember properly, Revelation. The point is that anthropomorphized animals aren't necessarily furryism; it's only when the animals are sexualized that it becomes a degenerate fetish. We have to remember that a furry is a zoophile, and that furries get off on dressing like animals. Even if some of them don't, they're still creeps in the same way that a cosplayer is, although they're worse.

I'm sure that all of us have thought at one time that an anthropomorphic animal was cool. I personally now associate them entirely with furryism though, and can't see one without thinking of this fetish. It's unfortunate.

Do you think Paris is as bad as American cities ? I know it's bad far from the American way.
It's both very similar and very different.
Nigger crack cocaine dealers don't go on shooting sprees, because of gun control (only positive aspect of gun control I can think of). But Moslems go on throat slitting sprees, which is not necessarily much more reassuring.
On the whole, Paris is still a great place if you have a lot of money (and by that I mean at least a million euros on your bank account). Historical areas are still very beautiful.
However, if you're a working class or even middle class guy, it's hell : your only choice is to live right in the middle of vibrant diversity. Some areas to the north east barely have any white person walking the streets.
Most whites under 40 try hard to be hipsters, wish they were New Yorkers and emulate every stupid fashion coming out of NYC or California. They even speak a weird lingo in which they use one English word for four French ones.
Faggots are everywhere and basically own the city (Paris former Socialist mayor was a flamboyant faggot, many vice mayors still are).
It becomes unbearable when you start having children and just want a normal life.
But I'm not gonna lie, I loved being 20 in Paris.

I agree with most of Hakkikt's analysis. This looks like a game where the animal elements are used to develop characters and tell a story, rather than as a vehicle for a fetish or self-insert sexual fantasy.
Furry degeneracy in art and games is usually pretty obvious. The games are usually dating sims, the characters look like twinks, and they could easily be substituted with humans with no change in the story. The only reason they look like animals is to serve an audience fetish and self-insert fantasy while being much easier to draw than human characters.
The most degenerate furry stuff tends to be American or Asian. Most Russian anthro art I've seen is closer to classic "what if actual animal-people existed" storytelling.
