We have both. My husband is arthritic - he thinks from years of running marathons and 10-k's on pavement. If he's in pain, he can't ride his Vulcan.Thinking about getting a hot tub. Not to party with naked broads, but to actually use the jets and warmth to relax the muscles, and the back. Is there any benefit there, or is it just a sales pitch? I could go on youtube, but I know there are knowledgeable people on this board, some of which will even have personal, first hand, experience.
The hot tub works particularly well on this - I think it helps me sleep better at night - and there is no better way to relax. I put ours under a spreading oak and there is nothing better to do in an evening than to sit in the hot tub and look up at the stars - only thing we argue about is the temp - he likes it all the way up to 104 - which feels like boiling lobster water to me. I like it at 99, which he finds freezing.
I don't use the sauna because it is too hot for me, it actually burns my skin - but husband swears by it.
We were lucky to get it from a contractor who got it as a form of payment- brand new and never used. He listed it on Craig's List - we got it for a very steep discount (wife told him to get it TF out of the house) - he even brought it over and set it up.
Hot Tub was bought at the county fair - our pool guy says they go for $10-12,000 in a showroom - ours was $7,500 - but for us a good buy because it is therapeutic.
I'd go for the hot tub, but that is just my opinion.
