I gotta get a straight bar. Years ago I made both of my straight bars into chinup bars back in the woods near my cabin.

Recently I bought a pair of those BowFlex 552 adjustable dumbbells and that has freed up a bunch of 10lb and 20lb plates. I have a couple of old 35lb plates too.

Deadlifts and cleans are essential, that's the truth.

My barn is cleaned out right now and I'm going to use it this Winter for training so I don't get so out of shape in the cold months. I have a banana bag, a double end striking ball, a muk jong (Wing Chun dummy), a big mirror and a stretch bar set up out there already and I've carpeted half the floor. I'll get a straight bar and set it up out there soon as well.

Chinups are wonderful because they separate those with upper body strength from the merely heavy; this is also one of the reasons that even the stereotypical squat bunnies who think they're totally fit are completely humiliated by the exercise.

Every fat guy will brag about how much he squats or deadlifts when he can't perform a single chinup with good form. It's good to be strong, but it's better to be able to perform chinups.

Every fat guy will brag about how much he squats or deadlifts when he can't perform a single chinup with good form.
There was a time when I could do 30 in a row, I probably can't do that many anymore but I know I can do 20.

I've seen many bodybuilder types at gyms and in other training environments who couldn't even do one.

At 9:09 the huge guy can barely do 6:

There was a time when I could do 30 in a row, I probably can't do that many anymore but I know I can do 20.

I've seen many bodybuilder types at gyms and in other training environments who couldn't even do one.

At 9:09 the huge guy can barely do 6:

Most men benefit most from basic body mastery exercises with a moderate-to-high degree of strength and weight conditioning.
But when you're Brian Shaw, or of his size and caliber, just go full Hercules. Fuck everything else.
Your strength is essentially inhuman at that point.
Sadly, that's a very very very small handful of men.....
For now.

Dude, that guy did zero pull-ups. He could not get his chin above the bar, even cheating and using his momentum.
