Also, I had to include the video above because it contained a joke about the current conflict that will age VERY poorly.
Is it a bad game?
I loved the first one.
I will no doubt love the second one.
But I'm not going to call either game bad just because most people can't wrap their minds around the play style.
Tips for the first game:
Talking (and only talking) in order to gain XP, then have the enemy follow you during the few early unavoidable conflicts you have to get into, get him away from his allies, and then trying to (unsuccessfully) kill them in a two-on-one battle with you and your only allowed party member.
Put it on easy, turn off the automatic lock-on, and turn off the stamina.
Again: have them follow you and gang up on them every unavoidable quest fight.
You need every edge you can get.
Run away from the rest of the monsters. The beginning of this game plays very much like a survival horror and most enemies will KO on first contact.
Despite all that though -- if you have the time and patience, I say you should give it a chance.
Elex I - Biased Score:
10/10 Would play again. Multiple times.
Elex II: 9/10 only because it isn't as insanely difficult as the first one.
Highly recommended if you want to play a sci-fi series catered specifically to the clinically insane.
