Even if the disease is fake (which it isn't) the worst part is that the whole economy is gone. Modern man has fallen so far that while society falls, they fight over the last rolls of toilet paper. Hopefully the strong few soon remember how to stand on their own two feet, put distance between themselves and society and enjoy watching it all crumble. It is going to be glorious. We can be men again.

I wonder if he's hiding in shame, I probably would be too.
I really don't wanna be mean. The guy literally told me that I'm stupid and dishonest, completely in rage mode and aside from the question who was actually right, it was a bit embarrassing for both parties involved imo. So yeah, I would not feel good in his position but I thinks that's the extent to what I will talk about it. Well, a liiiittle mea culpa on his part might be nice... ;)

Yeah. He became hysterical with me too. At first I thought it was funny and then I legit got a little embarrased on his behalf imagining him looking back on those threads once he'd cooled off.

In his case it's probably for the best the old place will soon be under a pile of rubble. Don't really have anything against the guy though.

Explain how it isn't fake.

That is, explain how it is different from the flu.

No one argues that there isn't a "novel coronavirus," just like no one argues that there isn't one of those every year that makes up 7-15% of flu cases.

If something is different about this, explain what it is.

Surely, we can't still be saying this bullshit.

The sad part is he was literally the best poster.

I hope he does come back.

As I explained, this hysteria effected anyone.

He had a lot of hot takes I'll admit. But he could do with a little humility.

There's no need to descend into flagrant personal attacks every time somebody disagrees with you, and it was literally every time.

He did it to me in January, insisting there was going to be hundreds of thousands dead from it by mid February, while hurling a string of personal jibes after I opined that China would probably do a good job containing it -- I had always been very respectful to him and it was frankly uncalled for, -- and I've since seen him do it with at least half a dozen other users who expressed similar viewpoints, again unprovoked.

I've paid very little attention, but even I noticed that the official sites have graphs on infection rates that seem to quickly reach a constant slope.
And it's just common sense that a new strain spikes fast, infecting the most susceptible as exposure leads to antibodies and resistance. Morons keep assuming that acceleration is fixed, as though a car doing 0-60mph in five seconds "if it keeps up at this rate" it will be at 720mph at the end of a minute. Viruses is not some "trouble with tribbles" thing that can keep growing till it's overtaken everything.
But he hypothesized that the small-world network must have "hubs," just like the major internet sites, to amplify the spread of signals.

The point is that a lot of real-world networks, such as infectious disease, are not random networks where there is an even chance of any one person coming into contact with another. They have structure, and the dominant structure of those networks is that the vast majority of people have a sparse number of connections to local neighbors. A random network would imply exponential growth, whereas the so-called scale-free networks that BarabΓ‘si discovered do not.
Yeah, China's ultra-localization of the infection should be a hint. Individuals' travel and personal interactions are, for the most part, very routine and limited. Notice how the Southern hemisphere is still essentially unscathed.

Yeah, happened to me once as well. I didn't even reply because I knew it was going to escalate into a flame war and I didn't want that.

But he's a great poster and I think some of the hostility on his part comes from the fact that he generally sources everything he says (even if he's wrong on some things) and, truth be told, most of us don't do that. He expects a serious debate while most people are shitposting or just giving their opinion.

That said he should create an account here, he's not a wignat and his posts are generally more interesting than many others (mine included).

China is lying, they're keeping the numbers down on purpose. Doesn't mean it isn't just the flu, but look at this for example. 80000 cases only, my ass.

Almost 60 per cent of people who contracted Covid-19 in the city of Wuhan, China, were asymptomatic or had symptoms so mild they were not reported to authorities, according to a study.

He's a good poster. But it became annoying.

I have a degree in Maths and I can tell you you can make everything plausible by using Maths and graphs. Simulations, etc are just as good as your knowledge on a certain subjects.

It's literally the same with climate change. According to Greta tier simulations, calculations and graphs we would be already underwater...

Common sense is often superior to "Maths" (= statistics, simulations, etc...)

But yeah, he's actually a good poster who puts effort into his posts. Unlike me, I barely source anything... But on the other hand, my posts here aren't my PhD thesis.

He should just stop being triggered that quickly and stop insulting people for disagreements.

And, tbh, for a short time some weeks ago I almost fell for the corona hoax too, but, in the end it's just the flu, bro.

If you do as I did and imagine him as "Angry White Science Man" sitting in a lab full of bubbling beakers, stealthily posting on the BBS in a lab coat it makes his posts even better, even when he's wrong or going after you or posters you like.

I have a feeling he might be laying low while he eats his crow :)

God knows I've eaten some crow over the years... grab some ketchup and gobble it down.

He and I butted heads over the Covid black death plague.

It's kind of funny that he was one of the posters that I had given the most likes to.

He's a great poster and I'm glad he's back.

I'm sure he's reading this and is taking some of the constructive criticism to heart... we're all fam here.

Hope he starts posting some more.

That is, explain how it is different from the flu.
I'll try.
As a person's body fights off the flu, the system creates antibodies, and people become immune as a result. The prevailing thought now is that in order to quickly solve the global issue of covid19 serum therapy is needed, where antibodies from people who have recovered are injected into those who do not have any form of immunity yet. The problem with this method is that the body generally kills the antibodies within 30 days or so, but a little of something is better than a lot of nothing. The best candidate so far is called TAK-888. It is owned by a Japanese company with manufacturing facilities in Georgia.
The virus that causes covid19 is SARS-CoV2. It is to covid what HIV is to AIDS. It is a severe acute respiratory syndrome and very similar to the original sars (SARS-CoV). Similar enough that the hypothesis is a true vaccine can be made from the first strain that will effectively combat the second.

If this were a flu, we would be studying the flu in order to solve the issue. But we aren't. We are studying SARS.

It is very easy to see this whole thing as fake and gay because
1) it is novel, and people tend to point at the Spanish Flu and say it's not as bad even though that particular virus had a 2 year run. But it is not like the Spanish flu, it is novel.
2) This thing has only been in the wild around the world since January so it is very, very young.

Yeah the medical establishment has for sure proven their credibility on this issue.

I mean, they were right about those 240,000 people dying, so how could we suppose they're wrong about anything else?

They've been wrong about a whole lot. But the good part is, this is actual science and not like the social science stuff which is just opinion. The result can be replicated and that makes measurement easy and accurate.
Now that the populace and governments are in a panic, though, a lot of the actual hard, cold facts are being blown way out of proportion or discarded entirely by the media. WHO won't use the term SARS-CoV2. Probably because it is racist.
