Anyways, Tom apparently divorced his wife who he has five children with and just got engaged on the 11th of June to Jenna Caitlyn Laino. Miss Laino is affiliated with Young Americans for Liberty. I'm pretty sure that his former wife divorced him. Tom has always been very strict on Christian principles and it would be very out of character for him to leave his wife and children. I had heard rumors about the size of his new girlfriend and while it is funny that he likes that type (his ex-wife was also big), I don't really care. The guy is getting close to 50, and he already has five children.

Tom has been good on things that matter: war, immigration, Bitcoin, cultural values, Covid-19, etc.. He is also pro free speech and is willing to talk with edgy people. The fact that three posters (and probably more who haven't seen the thread) know about him shows that he isn't a roadblock on the path to nationalism and may actually be a positive influence. I can guarantee that nobody ever said that about Antonio Buehler, Cathy Reisenwitz, Adam Kokesh or Jeffrey Tucker.

Yeah not a roadblock per se. he just reminded me of my smarmy ancap friends at the time. Sort of a libertarian version of John Oliver (who he incidentally actually looks a lot like). Smarmy and arrogant and unwilling to admit he may be wrong. Something I can’t quite explain about his appearance and demeanor (rather than his content) is such that I am instinctually drawn to the word “faggot” to describe him. Like, even if John Oliver were saying things I agree with, he would still be a faggot because his status as a faggot is derived from things at least partly separate from ideology.

It’s possible I’m being entirely unfair. I’ll concede I never actually listened to him speak, but my impression is based on reading some of his writings and seeing his picture smiling at me over his column.

I will confess I am not in the know if Tom's wife left him or if it was the other way around. Spot on observation about Jeffrey Tucker and the other names you mentioned. I've had some good discussions with Trad Catholics, and I'm actually sympathetic to many of their positions. That being said, both Trad Catholics and the broader Libertarians bring in some really odd people.

I remember there was a meeting of the Constitution Party at a large city library on a Saturday. I was dropping off some books, and stopped in to chat with some of the members. Some of the details are fuzzy, as this was more than ten years ago. Most if not all the members were fairly devout old school low Church Protestants that were not into "Blessing" Israel. The members were mainly in their 60s and 70s, and I chatted with them. One man started asking me some questions, and he asked me if I was a libertarian and I told him I was. I can't remember our entire conversation, but he told me he used to be involved in the party. What came next was a bit bizarre (at the time), but he told me God told him to leave the Libertarian Party. His reason was that it was evil and that it promoted things like sodomy and sexual perversion. At the time, I dismissed this but has time has gone I've come to believe this man may have been onto something.

From my time in the LP, I do remember a fair amount of real degenerate sorts. The LP was big into getting rid of age of consent laws, and were of course into "State's Rights" when it came to gay marriage. looking back I can't believe I used to believe in all this bullshit.

This is actually rather surprising to see. I thought a fiercely pre-Vatican 2 Catholic like Woods would have never done such a thing. With regard to his taste in women, his first wife, as I recall, was a really ugly sow too, albeit considerably less rotund. In that regard at least, there's nothing new here. I don't read or listen to Woods anymore (or any libertarian for that matter) because he refuses to say anything about jews, and maintains the idiotically naive individualist colorblind worldview (at least publicly).

I would rather listen to the likes of Jimmy Dore, Glenn Greenwald, Max Blumenthal, Aaron Maté or anyone else at the Grey Zone than listen to any libertarian podcast. One can almost excuse the likes of a Sean Hannity for the simple reason that he's a boomer Conservative that just isn't that bright. The circles can no longer be squared between the reality of what libertarianism is really all about. We aren't living in 1994 anymore.
