When it's 5am and you've spent the last 3 hours going down a youtube insomnia rabbit hole:

Apparently "throat singing" is a thing. It's singing with the "false vocal cords" - cords located above the normal ones. I guess these are used for coughing up excess liquid or something to that effect? Extreme metal sounds/screaming also use this false vocal cord technique (something I learned first that eventually brought me to the Mongolian rock band. Initially, I heard a woman doing this demonic metal screaming (while I was watching vocal coach critiques), and figured the sound had to be computer generated as opposed to something natural. Nope - throat singing).

I actually quite enjoyed the Mongolian rock song, especially the variety of string instruments.

Acoustic throat singing:

Usually this composer is one of those I totally avoid because his "music", unlike the types of classical up to late Romanticism, lack of harmony, but this piece alongside Debussy's Clair De Lune is one of the few impressionist pieces that isn't 100 %ly degenerate. It perfectly represents the calm before the storm at this current age without being too experimental.

Yes, even back then there were artists with only a few or even just one title that was better than the others. I found it through a very odd compilation and it reminds me back of 2014/15 when I would buy many of those. Why? Well, as much of a dumb consumer I was back then, even then I already knew how dumb it was to buy an album just because you are obsessed with a certain song. That was why I was so happy that compilations exist. This one which bought in a used condition (with minor damages which somehow are perfectly fitting to the concept) is very unorthodox. It is called Greatest Ever Chilled. Featuring calm music. Yes, my guilty pleasure. But the music differs from CD to CD. The first one just contains some pop songs, from Mr. Tambourine Man by the Byrds to Eva Cassidy's version of Fields Of Gold. Overall solid, same for CD with some electronic lounge music. Looks like all the countless Ministry of Sound compilations I just had to collect years ago - and have no idea how to see it now, I already managed to sell several CD's, so I better become more minimalistic, I gotta decide soon 🤔🤔🤔 - copied the concept. CD3 then of course follows with instrumentals, mostly orchestral, and the track I was listening to, was 11 out of 15 (and Clair de Lune 10). Then the compilation ends with baroque and a piece of Beethoven. Definitely the best end over four tracks. Not saying the rest is per se bad, you also hear Adagio for Strings as well as a piece from Morriocone. However, the concept may be questioned. Chilled? Then why is there no vaporwave on there? OK, it is from 2008... maybe they should have waited a few years🤦‍♂️

That was my little story nobody should read.

PS: now that think of it, this very song is reminding me more and more of Zelda Ocarina of Time🤔

Cowboy wisdom from the America that was.

"Faster Horses"

He was an old-time cowboy, don't you understand
His eyes were sharp as razor blades
His face was leather tan
His toes were pointed inward from a-hangin' on a horse
He was an old philosopher, of course
He was so thin I swear you could have used him for a whip
He had to drink a beer to keep his britches on his hips
I knew I had to ask him about the mysteries of life
He spit between his boots and he replied,

"Son, it's faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money."

He smiled and all his teeth were covered with tobacco stains
He said, "It don't do men no good to pray for peace and rain.
Peace and rain is just a way to say prosperity,
And buffalo chips is all it means to me."

I told him I was a poet, I was lookin' for the truth
I do not care for horses, whiskey, women or the loot
I said I was a writer, my soul was all on fire
He looked at me an' he said, "You are a liar."

"Son, it's faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money."

Well, I was disillusioned, if I say the least
I grabbed him by the collar and I jerked him to his feet
There was something cold and shiny layin' by my head
So I started to believe the things he said

Well, my poet days are over and I'm back to being me
As I enjoy the peace and comfort of reality
If my boy ever asks me what it is that I have learned
I think that I will readily affirm

"Son, it's faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money."

(repeat as song fades)

If my horse in RDR2 had a radio this song would be in my user created playlist. A lot of Colter Wall songs would be really.
